Estilo del compositor concreto (musicología)

Actualizado: 13 nov 2023

Style of the concrete composer (musicology)

Not only does the era conform a style, or general canons in terms of rules, fashions, tastes, forms of thoughts, social idiosyncrasy, but each composer within his characteristic environment has -marked by derivations of his education, family, environment, possibilities, history or personal biography-, some features and personalized connotations of greater or lesser substance, character, which require a parsimonious study, sometimes of years, even a lifetime, to get closer to your artistic-musical "modus vivendi", its real message, or as accurate and authentic as possible, within the tests (the more numerous and extensive possible the better) - conscientiously studied and analyzed - that allow the achievement of approaching - through the technique of constant and persistent search - to resurface what many times becomes a discovery by accessing the genius of these compositions fully.

Musicology must be crucial for the great performer

In this prism of musicological concept is where we must focus, found our work plan within a goal.

Delving into the specialized bibliography will also be of great use.

The study of the history where each composer resided, of the surrounding in general by those times (both in his country and in the one of residence and international relations with these countries), and of each work composed by him in his different stages, transitions , collections or albums, opus, since they were made in certain years (sometimes in a short period, sometimes longer in alternate intervals, other reissued by themselves or in different published editions), the annotations they made and personal opinions, what other critics and musicians wrote about them at the time, the impact it caused when it was released or re-released, the personal situation of the composer in those moments (health, economic, emotional, social, labor), the analysis of contemporary musicians and other artists of various branches and currents (especially those with whom the composer rubbed or had some kind of relationship, more so s and that contact was just in the specific period of the study), they will help us and allow an understanding, approach or approach to the message whose will, by leaving it written and almost always edited, the composer wanted to save.

Determine the technical advances, both of novel twists, harmonic connections, original expressions (which are often characteristic of great geniuses in a very individualized way), including the treatment of phrases, semi-phrases and melodic or counterpoint punctual cells, or resources of highly personalized fingering (compared to the usual ones or of other composers), analysis of the extensions of the sound registers, jumps, loudness resources, the technique related to the real possibilities of execution in its movement, air, rubatos, indications metronomic, they will also be very useful for the search for the final realization that the great interpreter always craves, given the enormous challenge of offering the highest level, which is just the one that highlights the most adjusted will of the original and authentic creation within the instrumental parameters that we handle (and above all thinking that we should do it in one way nera that is not only understandable to the listener, the public, but to highlight all the splendor of musicality that contains in the most natural or logical, or artistic sense).

We must also apply all our eagerness to investigate and discover the aesthetic sense of each passage, section or part, structure, and global set of each work, the relationship that in its abstract mystery hide the pages of the determined composers with the human being, with the hereafter, with nature, with a myriad of understandable and sometimes incomprehensible areas that we must shape - on the one hand being an interpretive realization, and on the other giving foot to that freedom of artistic thought.

From the musicological point of view, addressing the likelihood, coherence, authenticity of the sources, the investigation (very often thorough) of each note, each indication, expression, signs of articulation, hue, adornment, on the one hand, we They offer secure supports in our journey. On the other hand, the editions, existing publications (and for discovering or dusting since they are incredibly in some library funds without being studied yet) related to the matter to be treated and / or that connect in some way with these issues can become vital for not exercising a genuine nonsense and dangerous misrepresentation in the communication and transmission of the 'great' ability of our universal musicians (something that unfortunately happens and has happened in too many cases and that becomes a big problem when a serious and talented work is presented before the competition of works considered as copies and referents that are really painfully addressed from these important prisms).
